Ramble ramble ramble ramble. Ergh.

First and foremost, I want to say I never really cared about the whole 'bands going mainstream' thing. I know a couple of people who, if one of their favourite bands suddenly became popular amongst the poser/look-at-me-I-heard-Simple-Plan-on-the-radio-and-now-I'm-PUNK-RAWK crew, would suddenly become, for reasons unbeknownst to me at the time, extremely aggravated. For me though, I never really gave a damn. Kinda sucks, but at least the band's becoming more successful. I figured, as long as I can still listen to the band, and the band is going strong, then hey, more power to them because more people listen to them.

Then, I found out Breaking Benjamin was about to become poser-fodder.

GULP. Hold up, my lunch is coming back to me now. Oh, there it went, all over the keyboard. Niiiiiice.

I finally know what all those guys went through. Granted, there's a difference between being a fan and liking some of the songs from a group. And granted, there are MUCH MUCH bigger fans of BB than me. But still, that doesn't take away from the fact that Breaking Benjamin is an awesome band who, unfortunately, seems to be on the cusp of being poser-fodder. I've seen one person put these guys as one of his 'favourite bands'. I seriously hope that dude has really listened to a lot of BB songs, and isn't just putting BB on there because he heard a friend mention them once before, and decided to bandwagon jump. And this is even before they release 'Forget It', my favourite song, but still a deliberate attempt at commercialism. Once that song gets released, becomes overplayed and attracts a slew of new fans, most of which only like the group because they think Ben Burnley is a hottie or because they think that's the "real" BB sound (think Hoobastank and 'The Reason', i.e. they released that song, it wasn't their usual stuff, and it got wayyyy overplayed), then all hell will probably break loose. Sucks, don't it?

Now, I know I might cop a lot of flak for talking all this stuff, coming from a self-proclaimed bandwagon jumper. But I always try to make an informed decision before I jump. I try to really like a band and like a lot of their songs before I say I'm a fan, because otherwise, I'm just a guy who likes their stuff. And I know whatever the hell I decided to write here may not have made ANY sense, but hey, it's 2:47AM, I'm still awake, and I was sure as hell bored. So hey, enjoy the ramblings of a crazy man. Anyways, later days!
