The One with the Distraction Induction

Okay, so it's 4:20AM, right? I just sent my messy-as-can-be debate presentation to my Life Science debate manager, in the hopes that out of the Martshit I pulled out of my rectal cavity (seeing as it's from my ass, it's not bullshit, it's Martshit ), she can form some sort of coherent argument. Sigh, Life Science. Wait, not sigh. Fuck you.

Earlier today, I also finished off my Psych research report. Weird: even though this report was about 500 words longer than the half-research report from last semester, I actually felt more comfortable with it, and working on it was less of a bitch than I expected.

In other news, seeing as it's early morning already, it's officially the last day of my Mid-Session recess. There are two things wrong with the phrase "Mid-Session Recess." One, the break came after Week 10 of a 14 Week semester. Two, the word 'recess' implies a break from doing uni work; instead, I was stuck with a Psych report, a debate presentation for Life Science, and a 2000 word History essay.

Oh, hooray! Wow, UNSW! You're making TOO MUCH sense! Tone the sense-making down a bit, please! (That sound you heard was your sarcasm detector shattering into pieces.)

Anywho, seeing as there's still one day left, I think I actually did pretty well in the working department. The Psych Report and research for the debate are taken care of; all that's left is the History essay. Two thousand words, 40%. Damnit, there's no gulp emoticon. But hey, I handled last semester's essay well enough to be thisclose to a High Distinction, right? So here's hoping I can at least pass this one. I don't need the distinction, all I'm aiming for is that 50. Anything beyond that is a blessing.

Come to think of it, this week or so has actually been pretty eventful. I got to go clubbing, for the first time in about five weeks or so, for Fonz's 22nd; I got to watch Nacho Libre and Talladega Nights on the 21st and the 26th, respectively; people got to hang out at my house last Monday, which was awesome 'cause we had everything to ourselves for most of the day; I got a new ball for the backyard, meaning I can actually play backyard basketball again; I got to see the rest of the family for a random gathering at Tita Rose's last Friday night, so I'm pretty happy about that ; and finally, I got a fair bit of driving done throughout the week. Me being me, I balanced all this out with copious amounts of procrastination and voluntary distraction.

Speaking of distraction, the title's thanks to my Psych report, which showed that inducing rumination in people leads to higher levels of depression and anxiety, whilst distraction has the opposite effect. (Psych nerd in the hizzouse! OH, pass express!) In saying this, the shoes above are my distraction induction; I feel better focusing on them rather than on my work. (Thanks, Hypebeast and Niketalk!) Fingers crossed, I'm looking to cop the two Dunks soon. The Bapesta's a longshot, though.

Come to think of it, the only thing missing from this week may have been a spending spree. This might be in order sometime soon. I need new jeans seeing as I tend to make holes and tears in my current pairs (thank you, drunken stupor and uneven surfaces), Fonz is going to New York soon (and seeing as my brother tends to spoil me, I'm looking forward to my ride on the pasalubong express ) and, because I won a bet with my dad, he now owes me shoes. As all great gambling victories go, I won without having a lick of knowledge about what we were betting on: the NRL grand final. Thanks, Brisbane! The moral of the story is that shoes are good. Well, it's not actually a moral. Shoes are just good.

It's almost 5:20AM (fuck, that took me close to an hour?!), so I best be getting some shuteye. Anyways, later days!

P.S. A crown? Fit for a princess/queen/dictatress. Wherever she might be.

END COMMUNICATION.
