The One with the Guilt-Free Procrastination

What it do? So I'm officially in Second Year now. Feels so weird; just like that feeling back when I started Year 8. I remember thinking, "Finally! There are people here younger than me. Time to bully!" Of course, I never did bully anyone, but it was still fun to think I actually could.

Speaking of Year 8, this story just popped in my head. I remember my very first class for that year. We had DT, and I walked in, all confident like. Juls and TJ were there, and since I never really talked to them until that year, the first big memory I remember involving them was how they got to watch me make an ass out of myself: I slammed my bag on one of the tables in a moment of perceived coolness, only to have the Coke cans I'd stashed inside explode and caffeinate my books. Great success! I had Coke-covered books for that whole year.

Anyways, sidetracked! This entry's about my last week of Holidays. A fair shitload of stuff happened; I tried to fit as much stuff as possible seeing as I'd be spending the next four months drowning in Uni work. As such, quick recaps and bullet points for all!

  • Sunday - Spent most of the day watching All-Star Saturday (which, by the way, was rather underwhelming), until I had to go to church during the arvo. Afterwards, decided to visit Ian; having the car is such a freedom boost. Anywho, bummed at his for ages, trying to figure out what to do. We eventually decided to go back to mines. Pat met up with us there, and we chilled and watched Donnie Darko. Funny: Ian kept talking throughout the movie (to be fair, it DOES require heaps of attention and thinking) and Pat ended up having to yell at him to just shut up and watch. Very nice, how much?
  • Monday - Woke up early to watch the All-Star Game (again, sadly underwhelming ...too much putting in effort, not enough of a blowout). Ian eventually dropped by, as did Reyes. We all ended up watching a replay of the Dunk Contest (which, after a strong start, ended up fairly mehh; DWIGHT HOWARD WAS ROBBED! ), then watched the Dirty Sanchez movie. Side note: must finish watching Dirty Sanchez movie. Afterwards, I drove to the game (in the rain, no less, which apparently made me "P-Plater of Time"). Driving in the rain is no joke: if you fuck up, the margin for error's a lot smaller. But we all managed to make it home okay. The game was fucked: thank you, technical fouls, for helping us lose an 8-point lead with about a minute or so left. Sigh. Good times.
  • Tuesday - Woke up with nothing to do, but with a sense of wanting to do something and having the car to go somewhere. Initially wanted to go Parra to get some shopping done (new SLAM, new Complex, new Bloc Party album, The Wire season sets), but realised I could find most of the stuff at Mount Druitt anyways. So I got Ian and Pat to come along, seeing as Ian needed to get a haircut anyways. Bought A Weekend in the City, but skimped on The Wire; cutties 'cause it was $75! Afterwards, went and visited Tristan and took over his PS2 to play Tekken. Well, they played Tekken, and I spouted insults and random trash talk.
  • Wednesday - Don't remember much; I think this was my sole bumming day.
  • Thursday - Beach day! Organised a Bondi thing with the guys (which, surprisingly, posed very little problems), so we went and got our beach on. Ended up seeing the OLMC girls there as well; they had their own thing planned. Good beach day. After beaching, ended up staying in the City to watch Rocky Balboa. I liked the movie; out of the ones I'd seen, it was the only one to stick to the basics and keep shit simple, so I thought it worked well. Funny shit, coming home from the City at around 9-10PM, still in our board shorts and beach clothes and such.
  • Friday - Wasn't supposed to do much, but ended up going to Ian's house with Juls to chill. Later on, Dro dropped by as well, and he felt like doing something 'cause it was his last Friday of freedom as well. So, we bought a case of Extra Dry Platinums and drank up at his house. Great success! Actually, no it wasn't. I only had one beer; I'm not much of a beer drinker. I brought my trusty Smirnoff bottle along instead. But I was feeling sick that day, so I barely drank, just a couple of drinks; not even enough to get tipsy. Anywho, we ended up going out to the city on a whim that night; got into UN actually. Ian said he had a shitty time, even though he got in for free, got shouted drinks, and got to shuffle in the house room. Ahh well, I had a good night.
  • Saturday - got home from clubbing at 7:30AM, and didn't get any sleep until 9AM. Then I had to wake up at 9:30AM. Oh well, it was for a good cause: I went to the City to go shopping with Fonz. Couldn't really find anything, so that was disappointing. Oh well, better luck next time. Anywho, got a bit more sleep when I got home, then went out to Kellyville for Sarah's end of summer BBQ thingy. It was a pretty good night; I got to experience the FUN of being a designated driver for the first time. So awesome, not getting to drink and all. But it's all good, people have DD'd for me before, so I don't mind doing it every once in a while. Oh, and cutties! I brought my camera and was geeked to take some photos, but then realised that I'd forgotten the Memory Stick at home. Awesome. As always, we were the last to leave. Chilled in my cul-de-sac for a little while afterwards, before everyone eventually got sleepy and fucked off.
  • Sunday - my last day, spent chilled, listening to Zero 7 for most of the day.

I'm thinking of getting some early sleep tonight to try and correct my fucked up sleeping patterns, so I best be off. Anyways, later days!

- marty..

P.S. July! Where are you? Why be four months away for?

END COMMUNICATION.
